Karen M. Fitzpatrick, M.D. is a board certified family physician who graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1983. She is an associate professor of Family Medicine with longstanding interests in patient-centered chronic disease care, medical informatics and population health. She led her department’s transformation into a Level 3 NCQA-recognized patient centered medical home. She is a NCQA PCMH certified content expert. She is program director for an academic Patient-Centered Medical Home fellowship program. She also serves as Assistant Vice President and Medical Director of Ambulatory Quality for the West Virginia University Health System, providing support for primary care transformation and population health initiatives for the health system and its more than 40 primary care practices across northern West Virginia.
